Quincey “DJ Q” CecilDJ Q got his first break into radio as a fill in announcer under the mentorship of Marcella Jones, Al Greer, Chris Base and the Legendary Radio Executive Marv Dyson (of WGCI 107.5 fm and V103 Chicago fame) at college radio station WKKC 89.3fm (www.wkkc.fm) in Chicago. After a buzz was created around the times he served as a fill in & his consistent availability, Q was rewarded with his own weekly time slot as a Gospel On-Air Personality. From 2004-2006, The Friday Morning Praise Jam with DJ Q became the station’s highest rated time slot during that entire broadcast day.In 2009 after a 3 year hiatus working for independent record label Journey Music Group, LLC (www.journeymusicgroup.com) owned by Grammy & Stellar award winning Gospel Artist, Producer & Songwriter Darius Brooks, DJ Q found his way back to the radio airwaves at WYAM – Jamm Chicago Internet Radio Station (www.jammchicago.com). As the Host of the Hype Show (2009-2011), Q’s Personality began to shine so bright that the show averaged over 3.5 million listeners streaming on a daily basis becoming the station’s number 1 hit.
